I am pleased to announce that Dr. Philippe Marius and Ms. Terri Sangiorgio are assuming new roles within the Division of Student and Enrollment Services (SES) .
Philippe Marius will leave the Director of Financial Aid position to assume the newly created role of Director of Assessment and Strategic Initiatives. This role was created after careful consideration of needs and a review of resources within SES. It was clear that SES needed to enhance its assessment and evaluation practices, and given Dr. Marius’s employment and educational background, he is uniquely qualified to lead this effort. He will strengthen the culture of assessment of student learning outcomes in programs intended to support student success throughout the division, and will help conceive, design, and implement operational strategies in the division’s enrollment services. Additionally, raising external funds through grants and fundraising is a strategic priority for SES and as the Director of Assessment and Strategic Initiatives, he will support efforts to secure grants and other outside funding to strengthen student development, student engagement, and retention. Dr. Marius received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from New York University and his PhD in Cultural Anthropology from The Graduate Center/CUNY. He joined CSI in 1987.
Terri Sangiorgio has become the Director of Financial Aid. Ms. Sangiorgio is one of the most knowledgeable financial aid professionals within CUNY. She has an expert understanding of the complex web of federal, state, and private financial aid programs. Ms. Sangiorgio is also an astute manager of student-centered services and in recent years, has employed her leadership in student engagement to address crucial campus initiatives across divisional boundaries. Additionally, she will continue to oversee the Enrollment Services Center. Ms. Sangiorgio received her Associate in Arts from St. John’s University and a Bachelor of Arts from CSI. She is working toward her Master of Arts in Liberal Studies, also from CSI. Ms. Sangiorgio joined CSI in 2006 and has worked in the Office of Student Financial Aid since 2009.
Please join me in welcoming both to their new roles.
