By virtue of their CUNYAC Championship on Saturday, the College of Staten Island softball squad will be heading to Kean University on Friday, taking part in the NCAA Division III Championship Softball Tournament. One of 62 teams to advance to the national tourney, CSI will play Christopher Newport University in the opening game within the Kean pod.  The host Cougars will be facing Endicott College in opening round play as well that day The Regional is double-elimination, with the winner moving into the round of 16 the following weekend in Super-Regional play.

All games of the tournament regional will take place on the campus of Kean University.  Information such as matchup times and ticket prices will be made available as more info is gained.  Be sure to consult this website for the latest information.

CSI’s first-round opponent, Christopher Newport enjoyed a tremendous season, going 33-7 overall, including a 9-3 regular season mark within the Capital Athletic Conference.  They defeated the University of Mary Washington in the CAC Tournament, 10-6, at season’s end, gaining automatic entry into the tournament.  Host Kean finished 37-6 overall, going 2-1 in the NJAC Tournament before the rest of the weekend being rained out.  Finally, Endicott enters the competition with a 32-5 mark, defeating the University of New England twice, 8-0 & 10-0 to stake claim to the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament Championship.
