The Counseling Center joins the rest of the CSI community in expressing our grief and compassion to all who have been impacted by the race-based tragedies that have been occurring across our nation. These recent events illuminate a longstanding history of inequity and injustice that we oppose and are committed to addressing. These tragedies can be traumatizing for all, but may be especially injurious to our Black and African American students. After experiencing or witnessing something traumatic, it is normal to experience intense feelings and emotions, such as shock, fear, sadness, anger, helplessness or guilt. The Counseling Center is here to provide care for all of our students who have been impacted by trauma. We encourage you to contact our office if you or someone you know would like support with coping and healing. You can email us at counseling@csi.cuny.edu or call 718.982.2391 (24/7).

In response to these tragic racist acts, the Counseling Center is providing an opportunity for students to come together and receive support from counselors and each other. We will be offering a support group, “Let’s Talk about It,” on Wednesday, June 3 from 4:00pm to 5:00pm. Please join by clicking the following link https://tinyurl.com/csicounseling.
