Many majors at CSI require students to attain an intermediate level of proficiency in a foreign language. However, students who have previously studied one of the languages taught at CSI or are heritage speakers of one of the languages taught at CSI may be “fast-tracked” and reduce the number of semesters of language study required.
In order to do so, students should take the Fast-Track Exam.
- Students who wish to take the Fast-Track exam in Chinese Mandarin, French, Italian, or Spanish must first place a request through this online form.
- Students who wish to take the Fast-Track exam in Arabic must contact Professor Abouelkhair via email at hager.abouelkhair@csi.cuny.edu .
- Students who wish to take the Fast-Track exam in American Sign Language must contact Professor Rosen at russell.rosen@csi.cuny.edu .
For the possibility of testing in languages other than the languages above, students should contact Professor Ureni at paola.ureni@csi.cuny.edu.
For more information on the CSI Foreign Language Requirement, please contact your advisor or read the information available on the Website of the Modern Languages Media Center.
