Last night, our campus and surrounding community was hit hard by an unprecedented amount of rainfall and damaging winds, causing flooding and water damage to many areas throughout the borough, including our campus. This morning, CUNY’s construction arm, DASNY, arrived on campus to assess the damage, manage clean-up, and begin the repair processes.

Like us, I know that many of our friends and neighbors are dealing with the aftermath of the storms, and I want to pass along my thoughts to all of you, and hopes that you and your families were able to stay safe during this time and that you did not suffer major damages.

I want to sincerely thank many of our campus essential personnel for being on-site last night and throughout the morning, dealing with the storm and flooding issues, keeping our operating systems up and running, our resident students safe, and providing our commuters with assistance during the storm last night. Our crew continues to work hard during our campus closure today to ensure a safe reopening.

I continue to be very proud of our community that continues to check in on one-another and cares for our surrounding borough. Thank you all for continuing to make CSI a great place to call our home away from home.

As we continue to assess the damage throughout the day, we will continue to provide updates on the status of the campus through email and our alert systems.
