College of Staten Island Professor of Biology Shannon Curley has been quoted in an article in the Staten Island Advance that covers a new mobile application dedicated to the elimination of backyard pest, the spotted lantern fly. Dr. Curley lent insight into why the fly’s population is so robust in the Northeast. The piece, written by Kayla Simas, centers around a new app that tracks the killing of the backyard pest through a leaderboard and tracks kill locations, which essentially helps track where the population of spotted lantern flies is nesting and traveling to.
