Nominations for Student Government elections are taking place for the next few weeks. Please consider sharing the information on student organization nominations with your students. Student organizations are an important part of campus life for our students, and for re-establishing campus culture.

Nominations are open Tuesday, Sept. 6 (9:00am) to Monday, Sept. 26 (11:55pm).

Student Leader Positions for the 2022 – 2023 Academic Year

Are you interested in being a student leader? Do you want to make a difference and have your voice be heard? There are open positions in the following organizations (descriptions of these organizations are included):

Student Government (ten seats available; minimum 2.25 GPA required for undergraduates and a 3.0 for graduate students)

·         Freshman (6-29.9 Credits)                                 Four seats available

·         Sophomore (30-59.9 Credits)                            One seat available

·         Junior (60-89.9 credits)                                       Three seats available

·         Senior (90 Credits and above)                           One seat available

·         Graduate                                                               One seat available

                CSI Association (six seats available, 2.25 GPA required for undergraduates and a 3.0 for graduate students)

·         Lower Division (up to 59.9 credits)                  Two seats available

·         Upper Division (60 Credits and above)           One seat available

·         Alternate (6 credits and above)                        Three seats available

CSI Auxiliary Services Corporation (one seat available, 2.25 GPA required for undergraduates and a 3.0 for graduate students)

·         At-Large (6 credits and above)                           One seat available

               College Council (three seats available, 2.5 GPA required for undergraduate students and a 3.0 GPA for graduate students)

·         At-Large (6 credits and above)                           Three seats available

Faculty Student Disciplinary Committee (three seats available, 2.0 GPA required for undergraduates and a 3.0 for graduate students)

·         At-Large (6 credits and above)                           Three seats available

In order to run for and hold these positions, CUNY has set the following eligibility requirements:

·         You must be matriculated in a degree or credit-bearing certificate program at the College of Staten Island.

·         Undergraduate students must carry a minimum of six credit hours.

·         Graduate students must carry a minimum of three credit hours and have a minimum GPA of 3.0.

·         In order to serve each semester, a student must have completed and earned passing grades in at least 50 percent of the credits for which he or she registered the prior semester, but in no event fewer than three credits. 

·         GPA requirements vary and are noted on the nomination form.

The completed Nomination Packet, including the candidate platform statement described in “How to Become a Candidate,” must be submitted by 11:55pm on Monday, September 26, 2022. The form can be accessed online.  For further information, please contact the Office of Student Life at 718.982.3088.
