My entire Division—Facilities Management, Planning, and Operations–would like to thank everyone who assisted our staff, and the Plant personnel in particular, by closing windows and turning on heating units last week. As a result of your effor, we had only two frozen pipes on the entire campus.
These problems can be very inconvenient for the faculty, staff, and students who experience them directly, and they are costly to fix. They can require work for our plumbers, electricians, carpenters, and painters. We learned this week that other facilities and other CUNY colleges experienced many more of these problems resulting from the cold snap than we did on our large campus.
We very much appreciate the assistance of the College community and everyone who lent their time and attention to our appeal.
