WSIA, 88.9FM at the College of Staten Island will lend an official voice to Staten Island FerryHawks baseball beginning May 9, extending through the 2023 season this fall. In an event held at Borough Hall last week, the Ferryhawks officially introduced their second season, announcing that games played this season will be officially carried by WABC Sports Radio (770 on the AM radio dial) in New York, with students at WSIA-FM calling many of the games, about 40 in total.

CSI’s connection with WSIA-FM started last August, as a collection of WSIA-FM students worked with FerryHawks’ play-by-play broadcaster Jonny Wincott, getting on the air and calling some of the action alongside him for WSIA, and simulcast on YouTube.

The FerryHawks play a 132-game schedule within The Atlantic League that spans from late-April through September, with home games played at Staten Island University Hospital/Community Park in St. George. So far, the FerryHawks have had all but one game rained out, so the debut at home, and for the students at WSIA-FM, will start on May 9 against Southern Maryland, at 6:30pm.
