This January, the Office of Recruitment and Admissions will host two in-person New Student Orientations (NSOs) for our incoming freshmen and transfer students. New Student Orientation (NSO) is a pre-semester mandatory orientation program for all incoming students with fewer than six transfer credits from another institution. This program is designed to help new students to become familiar with the CSI campus, CSI’s academic programs, and what to expect as a new student at CSI. In addition, NSO provides new students with information regarding the many services and resources available to them. Moreover, it is also an opportunity for new students to meet other incoming students, faculty, staff, and upperclassmen New Student Mentors as students are introduced to college life at CSI. The overall goal of NSO is to provide students with a sense of belonging and connection to the campus community, develop partnerships, and ease students’ transition to CSI.

Students will be required to attend one of the sessions below. It will take place in the Center for the Arts (Building 1P) on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, Jan. 16, 8:30am – 1:30pm
  • Wednesday, Jan. 24, 8:30am – 1:30pm

Similar to the CLASS 100 sessions this past summer, we will host a Student Services Fair in the 1P Atrium each day from approximately 12:30pm – 1:30pm. The Fair provides an overview of services and opportunities that are important for a successful first-year experience. If your department/program would like to reserve a table and participate in the Fair, please complete the online form by Friday, Jan. 5. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact John Kim, New Student Programs Coordinator, at John.Kim@csi.cuny.edu or 718.982.2012.
