As we approach the close of the Spring 2024 semester, I want to remind you about the incomplete grade deadline and policy.

The last day to remove an INC grade from the Fall 2023 and Winter 2024 semesters is Wednesday, May 15, 2024 11:59pm. INC grades that are not changed by the deadline will be converted to FIN grades. As per the University grade policy (effective Fall 2021), unresolved incomplete grades that become a FIN may not be changed thereafter.

INC Grade Extension: Instructors may request a one-semester INC grade extension for an undergraduate student or one-year INC grade extension for graduate students. Any INC grade that is unresolved after the extension deadline will become a FIN and may not be changed thereafter. A grade change request needs the chairperson’s approval. To change the INC to a letter grade, please email the following information to your department.

  • Student Name
  • Semester and Year
  • Course Number and Section
  • Current Grade
  • New Grade
  • Reason for Change

Once approved, the department will submit the Grade Change Online Form on your behalf.
