College of Staten Island Interim Vice President for Economic Development and Community Partnerships Robert Wallace was one of many prominent Staten Island faces featured on the Staten Island Industry Alliance’s (SIAA) Voices of Staten Island, a film documenting a new wave of industrial, economic, and landscape changes to the Borough.

According to the project, Voices of Staten Island dives deeply into the unique challenges and strengths of Staten Island as it stands at the crossroads of change. It features conversations with Vito Fossella, Kamillah Hanks, Nicole Malliotakis, Mark Murphy, Mike Cusick, and College of Staten Island alumna and State Senator Jessica Scarcella-Spanton among other local voices. It explores Staten Island’s history as an anchor to New York City’s industrial efforts while maintaining its unique spirit and suburban trademarks.

Wallace speaks specifically about the role the College of Staten Island is playing in New York’s new green economy and offshore wind industry, what has become a boon to career opportunities on the Island and one that has faculty excited about the educational opportunities it opens for students at the College.

According to the SIAA, “As new industries like renewable energy emerge, Staten Island specifically is poised for a transformation that could reshape its economy and community. From offshore wind projects to sustainable infrastructure, the future of Staten Island is bright but requires careful navigation to ensure local growth and opportunity.”

The video explores the path ahead and how the Borough can overcome its challenges while maintaining its identity.
