CSI Celebrates Convocation 2024

College of Staten Island President Dr. Timothy G. Lynch welcomed the College campus to Convocation this afternoon, held in the Center for the Arts’ Williamson Theater. The annual gathering highlights achievements made by the College and an outlook on what is ahead. Faculty and staff celebrating milestones of service in five-year intervals were also lauded in the ceremony, which was followed by a holiday reception held in the Atrium of the Center for the Arts.

After welcoming remarks by Provost Dr. Michael Steiper and a video chronicling highlights of the past year, Dr. Lynch greeted guests with a snapshot of progresses being made at the College, from enrollment increases and budget forecasts, to faculty accomplishments and examples of student excellence. A recurring theme of Dr. Lynch’s address was that of gratitude to the community for their unwavering support of students on campus.

“From the moment students express interest to the day they graduate, we are responsible for creating an environment where they feel supported and empowered to succeed. I am immensely proud of how you show—not just tell—students that we care about their success,” Dr. Lynch noted. “Our success is a collective achievement. Every day, I see the passion and pride you bring to this campus. The sight of students, staff, and faculty proudly wearing Dolphin blue speaks volumes about our community’s spirit and dedication. CSI is not just a place; it’s a family united by a shared purpose. Together, we are building a brighter future, and I have no doubt that our collective efforts will propel us to even greater heights.”

Following Dr. Lynch’s remarks, he highlighted 180 faculty and staff celebrating milestone achievements of service, starting with those who are celebrating their 5th year of service to CSI and ending with CSI’s lone faculty member with 40 years of service, Professor Prabudh Misra (Mathematics).
