I) Health Plan Rates Effective October 2024

Payroll deductions for GHI-CBP and HIP-HMO plans under the New York City Health Benefits Program changed effective October 2024. These changes were scheduled to impact the October 17, 2024 pay date and forward. However, because of a delay in data transmission, the new rates were reflected one pay date later on October 31, 2024. As a result, the University Benefits Office will need to recover or refund the differences between the former rates and the new rates for all employees enrolled in the affected plans.  This will be done through deduction adjustments in your upcoming pay period(s).

Please note that while some rates have increased, others have decreased. See section II for detailed information.

Please also be advised that these rates are subject to change. In the event of a rate change, your payroll deduction may either decrease or increase. You will be notified of any future rate changes.

II) Arears Adjustments & Refunds

Adjustment deductions will begin on the 12/12/2024 pay date. You may refer to the below chart to determine how many pay periods and which pay date(s) you can expect to see these adjustment deductions. Adjustment deductions will be reflected under deduction code BTXADJ or ATXADJ at the flat amount listed for each corresponding plan code.

If you’re unsure of which health insurance plan you’re enrolled in, review the “Deductions” section of your October 17th or later pay stub and the corresponding “Plan Description” listed below.

Refunds for the below plans will impact the 12/26/2024 pay date. The refunds will appear as a regular health insurance deduction less the refund amount. Therefore, you should not expect to see a negative or separate refund amount on your check stubs.

Example: 0KA rate decreased by $0.03 (from $2.90 to $2.87). If you are enrolled in this plan, you will see a deduction amount of $2.84 on the 12/26/2024 check instead of a regular $2.87 deduction and a separate $0.03 refund.
