The College of Staten Island’s Office of Workforce Development and Innovation (WDI) is proud to announce the appointment of Darlene Blanco as its new Director. A seasoned leader in workforce development, business consulting, and talent strategy, Blanco brings a wealth of experience in designing programs that connect businesses, schools, and community organizations to build sustainable talent pipelines and address the evolving needs of today’s workforce.
Blanco joins CSI following her tenure as Head of Workforce & Talent Development at the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce, where she spearheaded transformative initiatives to enhance workforce readiness and drive economic growth. Her ability to bridge the gap between businesses, educational institutions, and job seekers has made a lasting impact on Staten Island’s economy and beyond.

Blanco’s leadership extends far beyond Staten Island. She has been a passionate advocate for equity and inclusion throughout her career, serving as Co-Chair of AXA Equitable Life’s Hispanic Employee Resource Group (HERO), where she led initiatives focused on financial literacy, career readiness, and community outreach. She is a U.S. Chamber Business Leads Fellow, a member of the Amplify Her Leadership Network, and a mentor at WEnyc, where she actively supports women entrepreneurs and emerging leaders.

As Director, Blanco will oversee WDI’s mission to develop workforce training programs that address critical skill gaps in high-growth industries. Under her leadership, WDI will continue to provide quality, flexible, and cost-effective training to support individuals and businesses in the healthcare, technology, social service, and renewable energy sectors. The Office of Workforce Development and Innovation remains committed to empowering the borough’s economic engine, one talented and driven individual at a time. Blanco’s expertise and leadership will further this mission, ensuring that businesses and job seekers alike have access to the resources and training they need to thrive.
