Join us in shaping a campus-wide vision that prepares students not only to graduate, but to thrive in the workforce on Tuesday, Apr, 29 in the Library (Building 1L), Room 203 from 3:30pm to 4:30pm.
Emma Johnson and Faiza Peetz, 2024 CUNY Career Success Fellows, will lead an interactive discussion forum that will examine how the College of Staten Island (CSI) and The City University of New York (CUNY) are aligning institutional strategies to support students’ career success.
Topics will include:
–An overview of CUNY Strategic Goal #2, Initiative #3, which focuses on preparing students for careers by linking academic disciplines, workforce skills, and employment outcomes.
–Updates from CUNY’s Lifting New York initiatives, including Career Launch, the AAS Redesign Initiative, Blackstone LaunchPad, and efforts to expand apprenticeships.
–Highlights from CSI’s Bridge to Success 2025–2030 Strategic Plan, particularly Strategic Priorities 1 and 3, which emphasize experiential learning, co-curricular programming, and stackable credentials.
–The critical role of faculty in embedding career readiness into courses through mentorship, experiential learning, and alignment with NACE career competencies.
–Tools and models such as career-infused degree maps, including the Biology to Biotech Industry Pathway, that help students translate academic progress into career momentum.
Participants will engage in small group discussions to explore ways to enhance degree-to-career alignment, build mentorship models, and strengthen alumni engagement strategies.
