We are seeking nominations for speakers for our World on Wednesday lecture series for the 2022-2023 academic year.

The World on Wednesday (WOW) series features CSI faculty, staff, and outside experts presenting to the CSI community ideas and experiences that lead to an increased awareness of global issues. The WOW lectures are intended to inspire students to want to learn more about the world during their time at CSI. Discussions in the series serve to introduce and encourage students to participate in the wide range of international-themed programs available to them through the Center for Global Engagement.

Speakers often draw from their own personal experiences abroad and present topics in an informal style, including lectures, discussions, and multimedia presentations. Past WOW presenters have represented a variety of disciplines including history, economics, geography, political science, health sciences, cinema studies, environmental science, business, literature, and others.  Discussions have focused on topics related to geographic regions and specific countries such as China, France, Italy, Japan, Korea, and South Africa, as well as global topics such as climate change, human rights, peace building, conflict, and more.

All WOW lectures take place throughout the semester on Wednesdays from 12:20pm-1:10pm via Zoom.

If you wish to participate or to suggest another speaker, please contact Winnie Brophy at the Center for Global Engagement at winnie.brophy@csi.cuny.edu.
