The College of Staten Island invites students, faculty, and the broader community to a compelling and deeply reflective public lecture, “The Willowbrook State School: A Story of State Austerity and Violence,” presented by Professor Rosanne Carlo, the 2024-2025 John J. Marchi Fellow. The event will take place on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 5:30 PM in the Library Archives Room (Building 1L, Room 216), with a reception to follow.

Those unable to attend in person will have the opportunity to view the event live via CSI-TV, the College of Staten Island’s official YouTube channel, making this important moment in institutional and local history accessible to all.

The lecture is co-sponsored by the Humanities and Social Sciences Council of Interdisciplinary Programs. With limited seating available, attendees are encouraged to RSVP by May 12, 2025, via forms.office.com/r/UJD5dEaa7L. Whether in-person or online, this is a not-to-miss event for anyone interested in justice, memory, and the power of public education.
