We are writing to inform you of important details regarding the upcoming retroactive payment for PSC employees scheduled for the paycheck dated Aug.Thursday, 7, 2025:

As with previous retroactive payments, you may choose to adjust your voluntary retirement contributions (TIAA 403b TDA, TRS 403B TDA, or the NYS Deferred Compensation 457 Plan) to coincide with this payment. Below are the key deadlines and instructions for making these adjustments.

TIAA 403B TDA:

The deadline to make a change in contributions for the August 7, 2025 retro check is July 21, 2025.  To make a change, you will need to complete a Salary Reduction Agreement (SRA) 2025 see online. Employees who anticipate increasing their contribution specifically for the retro payment only , should complete two 2025 SRA forms:

  • Complete one SRA form and write “Please process this increase for the retroactive paycheck only”  on top of the form for the August 7, 2025 retro check.
  • Complete a second SRA form to decrease contributions beginning on the following August 21, 2025 paycheck, to the percentage you wish to maintain thereafter on your normal bi-weekly paychecks.

Please complete and return the attached Salary Reduction Agreement (SRA) 2025 form(s) to Human Resources no later than July 21, 2025. You may drop forms off in person at Human Resources in Building 1A, Room 201 or submit via email to  HumanResources@csi.cuny.edu.  

TRS 403B TDA:

The deadline to make changes in the TRS 403B TDA Account is July 6, 2025.

  1. Log into your TRS account and change your contribution percentage. You will be given the option to apply this change only to the retroactive paycheck.
  2. Your contribution rate will automatically revert to the original amount after the retroactive payment (if you chose the option to apply the change to the retroactive paycheck only).
  3. TRS will send the certification to the campus for payroll processing (If you made the change by the July 6, deadline).

NYS Deferred Compensation 457 Plan:

The deadline to call Nationwide is July 22, 2025 (by 3:00pm)

  • Employees must call the Nationwide Helpline at 800.422.8463 to adjust their contribution for the August 7 paycheck because online changes will not allow you to specify the paycheck date.
  • Nationwide will coordinate directly with NY State Payroll to implement the change in contribution.

Notes:

  • TIAA number of change in contributions allowed per year: Changes made in connection with this retroactive payment do not count toward the allowed three SRA contribution changes per year.
  • Percentage Contribution Max: While there is no maximum percentage contribution for the retroactive paycheck, employees must ensure there is sufficient net pay to cover taxes and required deductions. Contributions may fail if there is insufficient net pay.
  • 457 Plan Max Exception: At CUNY Senior Colleges, employees may withhold all available net pay for the Deferred Compensation 457 Plan.
