The College of Staten Island has once again earned national recognition in the latest U.S. News & World Report “Best Colleges 2026” rankings, released this week. CSI proudly secured the #33 ranking as a Top Performer in Social Mobility—marking a dramatic leap of 49 spots from last year—as well as the #33 ranking among Top Public Schools in the Regional North category, climbing four places from 2025.

These distinctions highlight CSI’s continuing commitment to educational access, student success, and upward mobility, placing the College firmly among the most impactful public institutions in the region.

“These rankings affirm the College of Staten Island’s mission to provide students with both access and excellence,” said CSI Interim Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Nathalia Holtzman. “I am especially proud of our dramatic rise to #33 in Social Mobility, which reflects our deep commitment to opening doors of opportunity and ensuring that every student, regardless of background, has the support to succeed.”

Alongside its Top 33 rankings, CSI earned additional recognition across a wide range of academic categories including a #98 ranking as a Top Regional University (North) and ranking among the nation’s top Undergraduate programs in Engineering, Nursing, Computer Science, and Psychology.

Together, these rankings showcase the College’s growing reputation across disciplines, as well as its strength in both the liberal arts and professional programs.
