The Bertha Harris Women’s Center is thrilled to invite the CSI community to support our Toy and Gift Drive to support Safe Horizons. All donations will benefit Safe Horizon clients and children whose lives have been disrupted by violence and abuse.

We welcome the donation of new toys and gifts for infants through high school age children – but PLEASE no guns, no war games, and no violent toys.

The College and the Bertha Harris Women’s Center have been supporting Safe Horizon for several decades. Safe Horizon is the nation’s leading victim assistance organization, operating a network of programs across New York City communities and systems, including Staten Island. Safe Horizon works with survivors of all forms of violence, including domestic violence and racism, to move from crisis to confidence.

We are also requesting the donation of “cozy” items – new hats, gloves, warm socks, and the like for anyone of any ages – to help keep our friends at Safe Horizons warm as the winter sets in.

By participating in the Toy and Cozy Drives, you help demonstrate the big-heartedness of our CSI community as we share our joys and blessings with others. This year, we are not wrapping the toys so that parents and Safe Horizon staff can best match the donation to each child’s needs.

Instead, please join us in writing holiday greeting cards to Safe Horizon participants. We have blanks for people to decorate and make into cards and many pre-made cards to fill out. If you’d like to join this effort, drop by the Women’s Center in Building 2N, Room 106 at any time we are open and fill one or many out. These will be delivered with the gifts as a way to share love and holiday cheer.

Please drop off unwrapped donations at the following locations across our campus until Thursday,  Dec.ember 4:
