The College of Staten Island continues to build momentum as a leader in graduate education, earning strong placements and notable upward movement in the latest rankings released by U.S. News & World Report.

Highlighting this year’s results, CSI’s Master’s in Nursing program rose significantly to No. 114 nationally, up 20 spots from its previous ranking of No. 134. The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program also saw improvement, climbing to No. 141 from No. 143. In addition, CSI’s Physical Therapy program secured a ranking of No. 200, an achievement that underscores the program’s continued strength and competitiveness among institutions nationwide.

The gains in CSI’s programs reflect the College’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence, student success, and preparing healthcare professionals to meet growing workforce demands. The upward trajectory in both the Master’s and Doctoral-level Nursing programs signals recognition of the College’s high-quality instruction, faculty expertise, impactful clinical training opportunities, and post-graduate employment.

“These rankings are a powerful affirmation of the dedication and excellence demonstrated by our faculty, staff, and students,” said CSI President Dr. Timothy G. Lynch. “To see our programs ranked so prominently speaks to the strength of our academic programs and our mission to prepare the next generation of healthcare leaders. We are proud to offer graduate programs that not only compete nationally, but also make a meaningful impact in our communities.”

According to U.S. News & World Report, graduate school rankings are based on a combination of expert opinions and statistical indicators designed to assess program quality. Methodologies vary by discipline but typically include factors such as faculty credentials and research activity, student selection and outcomes, institutional resources, and peer assessment scores from academic leaders and professionals in the field

For nursing programs specifically, rankings also incorporate data related to faculty resources, research activity, and student excellence, while health-related programs like physical therapy rely heavily on peer assessments from educators and practitioners.

The latest rankings by U.S. News & World Report reinforce CSI’s role as a vital institution for advanced education, particularly in the health sciences. The upward movement reflects a sustained investment in academic quality and student achievement, while all ranked programs demonstrate the College’s ability to compete on a national stage.

As CSI continues to expand opportunities for graduate students, these recognitions serve as both a benchmark of success and a motivator for future growth.
