The Art Gallery of the College of Staten Island presents no such place as away, featuring works by Mikhael Antone, Jimbo Blachly, Emilie Clark, and Sarah Davidson, Thursday, Nov. 5 to Thursday, Dec. 3 in the Art Gallery of the College of Staten Island, Center for the Arts (Building 1P), Room 112.
This will be a group exhibition exploring our reciprocal relationship to the larger-than-human world in drawings, paintings, film, photography, wearable sculpture, and other objects. Nothing we build, discard, or leave behind actually disappears. Instead, it settles into soil, water, air, into new ground that becomes, over time, indistinguishable from what we call natural. The works in this exhibition are experiments in an ecological sensibility. We all are, and always have been, nature’s collaborators—kin to it by the plain, ongoing fact of being entangled together.
AN opening reception will be held on Thursday Nov. 5′ in the Gallery, from 4.30pm to 6.30pm. Refreshments will be served.
