Trout Fishing in America performs a contagious mix of folk/pop and family entertainment that draws from reggae, Latin, blues, jazz, and classical music. In concert, Idlet and Grimwood also introduce children to the world of songwriting and creative thinking with such adventures as learning to count the wheels of a big rig in Roman numerals, to having a picnic with teddy bears, or even finding a dinosaur in your bathtub. Trout Fishing in America is serious fun for children of all ages.

The duo met as members of the Houston-based eclectic folk/rock band, St. Elmo’s Fire in the 1970s. With three decades worth of writing, recording, and performing, Trout Fishing in America has also garnered three National Indie Awards, multiple Parents Choice Gold and American Library awards, and three Grammy Award nominations.

The CSI Center for the Arts is supported in part by the Richmond County Savings Foundation, a gift by the Carnegie Corporation (made possible by an anonymous donor), Con Edison, New York State (through the efforts of the Staten Island Delegation to the State Legislature), New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, Northfield Savings Bank, Time Warner Cable, the SI Bank & Trust Foundation, and by our many business and individual patrons.
