Carol Hartman

Received her AAS, BS, (Medical Technology) and MS (Biology) from the College of Staten Island. As an adjunct lecturer, she has taught Clinical Chemistry and general biology classes at CSI since 2005. Concurrently, she has been a senior laboratory technician in the Biology Department since 1999, specializing in clinical chemistry, hematology, electron microscopy, cell biology and immunology. Previously, Ms. Hartman has worked in several area hospital laboratories and has supervised a private hematology/oncology laboratory practice. She has performed analysis of fatty acid methyl esters from krill species collected on a CSI research trip to Antarctica. These studies examine the nutritional value to Antarctic seabirds, whales, and other marine mammals. Ms. Hartman has also investigated krill nutritional value vs. declining sea ice extent due to global warming. Her research interests include placental pathology and morphology of very low birth weight twins.
