John Jay College took a very close 114-102 win over the Dolphins in women’s swimming and diving on Friday evening at the CSI Sports and Recreation Center.
CSI grabbed the win in the first relay with a time of 2:24.83 that consisted of Lauren Overeem, Elaina Lei, Vasiliki Stergioula and Priscila Alvarez. In the next event, the 1000 Yard Freestyle, the Bloodhounds pulled ahead after taking gold and silver wins. Next, behind Stergioula’s 2:31.20 first place win in the 200 Freestyle, the Dolphins tied the meet. Stephanie Collyer helped the Dolphins hang on in the 50 Freestyle after taking first place with a 29.77 time. John Jay broke the tie in the 5th event, taking a five point lead in the 200 IM. Collyer, CSI lone diver, added some points to pull the Dolphins ahead with a 214.50 score total in the 1M dive. Once, again the Bloodhounds pulled ahead by three points after the 100 Butterfly despite, Elaina Lei’s second place finish at 1:23.63. Next up, in the 100 freestyle, Jocelyn Padilla scored a gold win to put CSI back on top for the last time at 68-66. From there, John Jay led the way in the final four events, taking two more golden wins one in the 500 Freestyle before topping it off in the 200 Yard Relay. CSI also had two golden wins in the final four as Lei finished the 100 Breaststroke at 1:27.41 and Collyer dove to a 183.75 score in the 3M.
The Dolphins will host Baruch next week on Wednesday, November 9 at 6:00 pm.
