I am very pleased to announce that, following a nationwide search and extensive campus participation, Ken Boyden, JD, EdD has been appointed as the new Vice President for Institutional Advancement and External Affairs at the College of Staten Island, effective Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013.
Dr. Boyden has many years of comprehensive experience in higher education and most recently served as the College’s Acting Vice President for Institutional Advancement and External Affairs. Dr. Boyden will continue to serve as Executive Director of the College of Staten Island Foundation. During his tenure, the Foundation grew in its efficiencies and effectiveness by increasing support from more donors and supporting the Mission of the College by funding programs and scholarships. He served on College Committees such as the Visual Identity/Branding Committee and is a member of the President’s Cabinet.
Prior to coming to CSI, Dr. Boyden led fundraising efforts at various 501(c)(3) organizations such as the Society of Hospital Medicine, the National Liberty Museum, Valley Forge Military Academy & College, Cabrini College, and the University of the Sciences, where he directed its first multi-million-dollar Capital Campaign exceeding the identified goal and raising in excess of $30 million from individuals, foundations, and corporations.
Dr. Boyden received his BS from West Chester University (PA), his JD from Dickinson School of Law of Penn State University, and his EdD from the University of Pennsylvania.
I would like to commend the outstanding work of the search committee chaired by Ira Persky, Vice President for Finance and Administration. The committee’s diligence and hard work produced an impressive pool of applicants, ensuring the success of this important search.
Please join me in congratulating Dr. Ken Boyden on his appointment.
