“We are very excited to welcome Rebecca to the College,” said Associate Athletic Director and Sports Information Director David Pizzuto. “Her expertise in the field coupled with her enthusiasm and poise will benefit our student-athletes and programming here. We are lucky to have her.”
A 2006 graduate of Washington State University in Pullman, Washington, Faulds has spent time as both a graduate assistant and Sports Information Director at NCAA Division I Boise State University, where she helped organize, manage, and handle all facets of media and public relations for the Broncos’ flagship sports of football and men’s basketball. There, she helped organize daily interviews and weekly press conferences, helped organize marketing efforts, oversaw game staff, and handled content for media distribution through www.broncosports.com.
Prior to her two-year appointment as an SID at Boise State, Faulds was a graduate assistant to media relations, where she served as one of the University’s primary contacts for volleyball, swimming & diving, and women’s tennis. Prior to that, Faulds served as a communications intern with the Pacific-10 Conference in Walnut Creek, California, and as a media relations staffer with Washington State University from 2003-06. Faulds is looking to use her credentials in the industry to develop in New York’s rich NCAA Division III landscape.
“I’m very excited to be joining the College of Staten Island and look forward to working with an incredibly talented staff and group of student athletes,” Faulds said. “This is truly an amazing opportunity and I am thrilled to become a part of the CSI athletic family.”
Born in Renton, Washington, Faulds found her passion early in athletics. Upon seeking B.A. degrees in both Sports Management Emphasis in Communication and Communication Emphasis in Public Relations at WSU, she quickly immersed herself in the local sports scene at her alma mater. She also lent her talents to the Phoenix International Raceway –Busch Cup Series as a communications staffer, and also worked events such as the 2007 Rose Bowl, 2010 Fiesta Bowl, and the NCAA Division I Basketball Tournament’s First and Second Round from 2003-10. She also served as an ABC Sports Production Runner for the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks in 2004-05, and was a key contributing staffer to the Pac-10 Basketball Tournaments in both 2006 & 2007.
“Becca is already an accomplished leader in our profession, and her eclectic body of work makes her an ideal candidate for the broad range of activities she will embark on at CSI,” said Pizzuto, who has served as CSI’s SID since 2006.
At CSI, Faulds will serve as CSI’s primary contact for gameday management and supervision, and will serve as a key contributor to media and public relations efforts alongside organizing athletic scheduling. She also plans to be an integral part to event programming at the College, such as CSI’s annual Athletic Awards Banquet, Tournament of Heroes, and Hall of Fame.
“I am a firm believer that you can never stop learning and look forward to the many opportunities that await me,” Faulds said. “I hope to get more involved in the administrative aspects, but I would also love to expand the athletic department’s social media presence. With that being said, I won’t pass up any chance to learn something new or challenge myself, so you will see me around.”
Faulds is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Physical Education – Athletic Administration from Idaho State University, and will reside on Staten Island. Upon her arrival at CSI, Faulds can be reached at (718) 982-3400 and at becca.faulds@csi.cuny.edu.
