The Eighth Annual Tunnel of Oppression at CSI will be held on Thursday, Nov. 14 from noon to 4:25 pm. The experience starts in the Campus Center (Building 1C) Green Dolphin Lounge.
An estimated 20.9 million victims are trafficked globally, with hundreds of thousands in the United States. This year’s theme will focus on human and sex trafficking.
The Tunnel of Oppression is designed to increase awareness and sensitivity to various forms of oppression and to create an understanding of the effects and systemic organization of oppression. While many are familiar with the role of racism and sexism in society, we must examine how class, age, heterosexism, and other forms of oppression collude to deprive many of their basic human rights. The Tunnel also works to promote respect, diversity, and critical thinking to create solutions and plans to eliminate oppression and encourage civic and community engagement.
This PG/CC CLUE-certified event is sponsored by the Pluralism and Diversity Program of the Division of Student Affairs.
