Russ Clay grew up outside of Pittsburgh, PA and received his undergraduate degree in Information Systems from Carnegie Mellon University in 2000. After several years of managing software development projects at Capital One Financial Corporation, Russ returned to graduate school to pursue his PhD in Experimental (Social) Psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. Upon receiving his degree in the summer of 2012, Russ spent one year as a full-time Visiting Lecturer in the Psychology Department at the University of Richmond. Then, during the 2013-2014 academic year, Russ taught multiple psychology courses at Aurora University, Concordia University, and Northeastern Illinois University in the Chicago area while his wife was completing her Clinical Psychology internship at Rush University Medical Center. In the past two years, Russ has gained experience teaching Introduction to Psychology, Introductory Statistics, Research Methods, Social Psychology, and History of Psychology, as well a senior seminar in Evolutionary Psychology. In addition to teaching, Russ conducts research investigating factors associated with the formation and change of social and political attitudes and has published several research articles on this topic. He also maintains an active involvement with the Open Science Framework organization where he has participated in several collaborative research efforts including a project to estimate the reproducibility of published psychological research findings.
