The Center for Global Engagement is pleased to announce our newest faculty-led program in Cuba, which is now accepting applications for this winter.
Based in Havana, this course is an overview of the pedagogy and history of Cuban education and is being taught in cooperation with our Cuban partner university. Students will spend three weeks in Cuba taking in the splendor of a country filled with Spanish colonial architecture, Caribbean cuisine, and amazing historical sites and museums. In this winter intersession program, they will learn about and interact with the Cuban educational system through daily observations, seminars, and engagement with K-12 students, as well as students enrolled in teacher education programs. Students will expand their knowledge of the history and pedagogy of Cuban education by comparing the Cuban education system with that of the United States while working in teams with Cuban students and learning from local teachers and faculty.
Professor Susan Sullivan will serve as our lead faculty member and will accompany the program. Please pass this announcement and our online flyer to any and all interested students.
The application period will remain open until Wednesday, Nov. 15, and significant scholarship funding is being made available through a grant from the 100,000 Strong in the Americas Innovation Fund.
