The College of Staten Island softball team will look to rebound from yesterday’s losses.  Today they will take on Rockford University and #6 Trine in Tucson, AZ for the Tucson Invitational.

Players to Watch (CSI): Patricia Riches and Christina Cerverizzo led the way for the Dolphins yesterday, as they both hit .500 and will look to continue and better that this morning. Jamie Holmes will also look to get going on the second day. Both Nicolette Trapani and Alison Meagher will look to find their first win of the season as well as hope their offense can back them up. 
Players to Watch (RU): Freshman Sammi Russell paces the team with a .455 batting average followed by Brittany Bihun who is batting .333. Bihun has the lone double of the season for her team, however, it is Russell that leads the way with two RBI. McCathran Andrew is the base runner for the Regents, speeding around the bases and leading her team with three stolen bases.  
Players to Watch (TU): Erica Robles currently sits atop her squad with a .647 batting average and a pair of triples. Makenna Hartline has used her power this season and has a team-high three home runs on .486 hitting. Kate Saupe has pitched 15.2 innings and boasts the lowest ERA, 2.23, on the team. Saupe is second on the team with 12 strikeouts. 
News & Notes: The Dolphins have not opened a season 0-2 since the 2015 season where they started 0-2 in their last visit to the Tucson Invitational games. CSI will hope to get their bats going against the Regents in their opening game to break their losing skid. Rockford University has lost their last two and has been outscored 27-5 in those games. Trine University recently had their four-game win streak snapped by St. Benedict yesterday. During their four-game win streak Trine University averaged 20 runs a game, destroying anyone in their path.
