With the fall sports season fast approaching, the College of Staten Island men’s soccer team has officially released its 2017 competitive schedule.  A total of 17 contests adorn the schedule, starting with the CSI Kickoff Classic on Labor Day weekend, and finalizing with the CUNYAC Postseason Tournament in early-November.

For the Classic, the Dolphins will welcome in visiting teams Wisconsin-Platteville, New Jersey City University and St. Joseph’s College of Brooklyn for three days of round robin action.  CSI will officially introduce their portion of the season when they face off against WI-Platteville on Saturday, September 2, at 2:00pm, part of a doubleheader that day.  CSI will then take on St. Joseph’s the following day at 11am.

The Dolphins will play their first road game at Lasell College in Newton, Massachusetts, their first ever game against the GNAC school.  A week later they will intro the conference portion of their season at the CSI Soccer Complex against City College of New York on September 16, at Noon.  After their CUNYAC opener, CSI will play seven of their next eight contests on the road, a stretch that includes five conference tests and a first-ever trip to the University of Valley Forge in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania.

The Dolphins will close out the season on a three game home stand, one that begins with a game against defending CUNYAC Champs Lehman College on October 14 at Noon.

The CUNYAC Postseason advances the top six teams in the conference and opening round play begins at higher seeded teams ranked 3-6 on October 25.  The Semifinals and Final will be played at Randall’s Island on October 28 and November 5, respectively.  The Dolphins have been chasing a title, having not won a championship since 1998.  A conference championship spells advanced postseason play as part of the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament.
