We are looking for volunteers for the 2018 Future of StoryTelling Summit (FoST), which gathers together an exclusive group of senior executives, creative talent, and technologists who are redefining the media landscape in the digital age. This event will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, Oct.3 and 4 at Snug Harbor on Staten Island.
Being a part of FoST’s volunteer program is a chance to gain exposure to the most innovative thought-leaders and cutting-edge ideas that are changing the nature of entertainment, media, and communication. Volunteers will have the opportunity to interact with speakers and attendees through key positions that are vital to bringing the Summit to life.
Additional information is below. Applications can be submitted online.
Description of the Event:
The Future of StoryTelling is an invitation-only, two-day gathering of technology, media, and communications visionaries from around the world. The summit is designed to put participants in direct contact with the most vital ideas, people, and technologies that are shaping the way we tell stories.
What we’re looking for:
Enthusiastic volunteers with an interest in storytelling. Successful candidates must be incredibly hard-working and enthusiastic about helping with all tasks necessary to produce a 600-person conference. This is a temporary volunteer position (two days to one week).
What you can expect:
Volunteer positions will require some physical activity. The available positions include the following:
- Greeters and Guides: Responsibilities include helping guide attendees around the Snug Harbor campus. You’ll be wearing your FoST t-shirt and carrying signs. You will also help pack up all conference materials and assist with resetting supplies.
- Roundtable Room Monitor: You’ll be in charge of preparing your designated classrooms for workshop and round-table sessions. Each workshop has different audio-visual needs and supplies, so you’ll be tasked with making sure the room is stocked and ready to go. You will also help pack up all conference materials and assist with resetting supplies.
- Scribe: Responsibilities include taking precise and accurate notes during the intimate speaker round-table session to which you’ll be assigned to for the day. Requires excellent note-taking skills. You will also help pack up all conference materials and assist with resetting supplies.
- Transportation Help: Responsibilities include assisting attendees as they arrive and depart Snug Harbor, helping pack up all conference materials, and assisting with resetting supplies.
FoST staff will provide training and guidance for volunteers to fulfill responsibilities. Volunteer job assignments are at the discretion of the FoST staff.
Event Dates: Oct. 3 and 4. Mandatory orientation sessions will take place in the weeks prior to the event. Exact dates will be announced shortly.
