Staten Island, NY | The College of Staten Island has named Joseph Foreman as its new Assistant Sports Information Director, it was announced today. Foreman will begin on June 3, taking over the position from Thomas Krychkowski, who recently departed for the Director of Athletics Communication position at Rutgers-Newark.
A Staten Island native, Foreman graduated from the College of Staten Island in 2015, where he spent the tail end of his undergraduate career as a staffer at CSI as part of the gameday operations effort, a position he continued post-graduation.
“We are very excited to welcome Joe in this elevated capacity at the College,” said Associate Director of Athletics and Sports Information Director David Pizzuto. “He has proven to be an extraordinarily capable young professional who has really grown into a bigger role during his time here. He did a tremendous job showing the search committee his versatility and we are excited to see him put the many ideas he has to work.”
A business management major while at CSI, Foreman graduated Magna Cum Laude and as a first-place finisher in the Capstone Business Simulation enterprise in 2015. He was also a member of the first-ever Sports Management course offered at the College, completing a year-end project that landed him a position within the Athletics program as a gameday staffer. From there, Foreman became a vital part of the gameday experience lending himself to multiple efforts including statistics, public address, official scoring, and broadcasting for CSI SportsNet.
“Traveling alongside several of our teams to work numerous championship events, fulfilling a childhood dream of providing sports commentary, and forming many strong friendships along the way are just some of the great experiences from my time working as a gameday assistant which made it clear to me that CSI is where I wanted to begin a full-time career in athletics,” said Foreman. “I can’t wait to get started as Assistant SID and I look forward to playing a bigger role in shaping what is sure to be an exciting future for CSI.”
In his newer and more expanded role, Foreman will serve as CSI’s primary contact for gameday management and supervision, and will serve as a key contributor to media and public relations efforts primarily through the College’s social media platforms. He will also assist as a liaison to multiple event committees such as the Hall of Fame, Golf Outing, and CSI Awards Banquet.
“I am proud to have contributed to an incredible gameday atmosphere throughout the last four years and will certainly continue to foster that as Assistant SID, but I’m also eager to extend my influence beyond our home events,” he said. “Our potential move into Division II creates countless opportunities to expand CSI’s presence on social media and there are already some new ideas that we will look to implement across those platforms. We will also look to enhance our coverage of all things CSI Dolphins in order to create the most immersive experience possible for fans and an even more memorable one for all of our student-athletes.”
A resident of the Willowbrook section of Staten Island, Foreman, 26, is a passionate New York sports fan and season-ticket holder of the New York Mets, New York Knicks and New York Jets. He also enjoys fitness and has also run his own business enterprises in wholesale and retail distribution.
