Subject: II – Information on Transition to the new LMS Brightspace (from Blackboard)
Dear Colleagues,
As you have heard by now, Brightspace will be replacing Blackboard and CUNY is migrating the individual colleges to Brightspace in four groups over the next two years. CSI is in the third transition group (Fall 2024), and we will officially begin using Brightspace for teaching in the 2025 Spring term.
For those faculty who wish to dive in and explore Brightspace, we would like you to know you now have the opportunity to access the Brightspace LMS in a practice test environment prior to the migration; however, faculty members will not be able to add students to practice courses.

CUNY Central is working with Brightspace to migrate the previous two years of Blackboard course content into Brightspace. They are also working on a plan to archive the previous 6 years of Blackboard courses, to comply with university data retention requirements.
