The CSI Library is the academic heart of our campus. If the Library is to remain relevant, it must support the community by enhancing our print and digital collections, as well as our physical and collaborative spaces.

The CSI Library continues to provide access to traditional resources such as books and journals, while our live-streaming videos and online tutorials support current approaches to pedagogy to meet students where they are. Today, I am writing to provide programming updates and to ask for your support.

We continue to develop programs with campus and local partners, such as regular exhibits in the Library Gallery curated by students in the School of Education course, EDE 305 (Social Studies, Art, and Reading and Language Arts in Elementary Education).

Last year, we introduced our monthly visits from Schuyler (“Sky”) the Therapy Dog, accompanied by her parent, Sarolta Takács (Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences), and monthly tabling events visits by the NYPL. Learn more on our News and Events Blog online.

The CSI Library also hosted a series of events on Banned and Challenged Books. Additional resources on this important topic can be found in our guide.

We provide the critical resources to support CSI’s curriculum. Faculty and student research has been challenging as we navigate a climate of state budget cuts in higher education and austerity.

A gift in any amount will help advance the mission of the Library. A gift of $100 or more will be recognized with a bookplate in a new print book or personalized notation in the catalog for an e-book. Consider a $1,000 donation to name a study carrel in honor or memory of a loved one.

Please send your donation to the Office of Institutional Advancement, Building 1A, Room 210, and make your check payable to the CSI Foundation, noting “2024 Library Appeal” in the memo. You may also donate securely online. Cick on “Please give now,” and select “Library” in the gift designation box.

Your support is more meaningful and essential than ever.
