Please join us for week seven of Bertha’s Summer of Love at the Women’s Center.

This week we will focus on a quilt-as-you-go tradition that grew out of the physical isolation of the Isle of Man, a British Crown dependency in the Irish Sea.  Without access to many tools, Manx women developed a style of stitching fabric to create warmth and beauty.  This simple form makes a great introduction to the ways women have made art out of depravation. Come and learn about how the traditional pattern developed and make a square based on the dimensions of your own hand.  Any level of sewing can do this with ease.

Join a community of friendly stitchers, relax, learn, hang out, and just have fun. All supplies provided along with snacks and drinks.

August 7  2N/106, noon-1 and beyond. All are welcome—Students, Faculty, Staff and Alumni!
