The University’s Employee Sex-based Misconduct Prevention and Response Course (ESPARC), Workplace Violence Prevention Training (WVP), and Gender-based Violence Training (GBVT) are now available to employees for the 2024-2025 academic year.

New York State Law and CUNY’s policies on Sex-Based Misconduct Prevention and Workplace Violence Prevention require employees to complete the ESPARC and WVP compliance trainings at least once every year. All full-time employees will have until Friday, May 30, 2025 to complete both courses. All part-time employees, including adjuncts, are responsible for completing the trainings by the May 30, 2025, deadline. If your spring semester ends prior to May 30, it is your responsibility to complete the required trainings before the end of your campus semester to ensure your completion is marked by the University. Once an employee becomes inactive in CUNYfirst, the training will no longer be accessible.

Gender-based Violence Training will also be launched on Wednesday, Aug. 28. This training will only be available for all HR professionals, as well as managers with at least one direct report. If employees receive an automated email notification regarding GBVT, they are required to complete it by Friday, May 30, 2025. Active employees are automatically registered for the trainings in Blackboard. Employees can sign into their CUNY Blackboard account and navigate to My Organizations to view and complete both the ESPARC and WVP trainings. Employees who are also required to complete the Gender-based Violence Training will find the course listed under My Organizations in Blackboard. Step-by-step instructions for completing the trainings can be found on the course Announcements page. New hires will have access to their courses on the next business day after becoming an active employee in CUNYfirst.

Additionally, employees with any questions regarding the trainings can access the Compliance Training FAQs online or e-mail HRtraining@csi.cuny.edu for assistance.
