Aside from free pens, candies, and other goodies normally associated with club fairs, CSI’s Winter Involvement Fair brought more to the table (pun intended) bringing together students from all different backgrounds, interests, and career aspirations to learn more about the latest clubs, organizations, and events on campus.

It was so loud in there, you could barely hear yourself speak; all the participating clubs/organizations were packed into one area of the cafeteria in the Campus Center. The place was alive with conversation with students buzzing in front of every table, several students cramming to speak to club members and eager to grab flyers for more information.

There are some new clubs and organizations that recently started, including the Open Minds Exchange club and Women in Business club and some mainstays like the Health and Wellness Center and the Spanish Club.

As soon as you entered on the right, there was the Women in Business (WIB) club table, with bright pink flyers and posters. Aislinn Pavia, President of WIB and a Marketing and Finance major, was eagerly informing the women at the table about an upcoming panel, solely for women to network and learn more about career opportunities in business.

“Our purpose and mission are to get more women involved in business,” said Pavia. “Starting entrepreneurs now, and getting everyone started with internships searching, résumé building, and networking skills.”

An important resource at CSI that is often overlooked is the Health and Wellness Center, which offers everything from condoms to vaccinations. Rahman Yuldashov, a Biology major, who is completing a federal work study job at the Center this semester, urges students to take advantage of their resources.

“If you feel sick on campus, you can come in 1C-111 and our Nurse Practitioner will help you,” said Yuldashov. “If you need your physical form filled, if you need a vaccination, we have that.”

He also encourages students to attend events on campus so that they can learn new things, meet new people, and make connections.

On the other side of the room was the Spanish Club. All of its board members, from President to Treasurer, were women hailing from different Hispanic/Spanish countries including Colombia, Peru, Mexico, and Spain. Valeria, the VP of the Club encourages students to look out for the upcoming club events including paint and sip, and bachata, salsa, and reggaeton lessons.

“You don’t have to be Hispanic, everybody’s welcome; you don’t need to speak Spanish or understand Spanish.” said Valeria. “We are trying to introduce our culture to the College,” said Valeria. “It’s a revolution, but it’s a revolution of love.”

Among the buzz of business networking and cultural celebration, CSI’s Winter Involvement Fair proved that there’s a place for every student here at CSI and one message rang clear: at CSI, there’s always a table waiting for you.
