The Performing and Creative Arts Department presents its first musical production, bringing rock, rebellion, and American history to the Lab Theatre stage.
Before Hamilton, there was Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson! The College of Staten Island’s Performing and Creative Arts (PCA) Department presents its first musical production, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, written by Alex Timbers, with music and lyrics by Michael Friedman. The irreverent rock musical, which played on Broadway from 2010 to 2011, reimagines the life of America’s seventh president through an electrifying mix of rock music, political satire, and outrageous comedy.
Directed by Professor Lee Papa, with choreography by Jordan Goldstein and music direction by Jennen Saleh, the production brings together a talented ensemble of CSI student performers and musicians to explore the rise of Andrew Jackson, from his early years on the American frontier to his controversial presidency.
Blending historical events with contemporary language, humor, and an energetic rock score, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson takes an unconventional look at American politics, populism, and the making of a national figure. Through its bold storytelling and satirical approach, the musical invites audiences to reconsider the complexities of American history while delivering an entertaining theatrical experience.
The production features Nicholas DePalma in the title role of Andrew Jackson, supported by a dynamic student cast and a live rock band performing the show’s high-energy score.
Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson will be performed at the Lab Theatre, Building 1P, on the College of Staten Island campus, 2800 Victory Boulevard, Staten Island.
