The College of Staten Island (CSI) celebrates the 2006 “Bring Your Child to Work” Day with a full day of events and activities. On Thursday, April 27, all CSI employees are encouraged to participate by bringing their daughters and sons (ages 6-16) to participate in the day’s events.
The children will have the opportunity to meet CSI President Marlene Springer, learn about Asian Cultures, tour the astrophysical observatory and meet with its director, engineering science & physics Professor Irving Robbins, as well as participate in a drama activity with performing and creative arts’ Professor George Sanchez.
Activities include:
12 Noon Asian Cultures Day/ Origami; Campus Center
1:00 p.m. Asian Cultures Day/ Brush Painting Demonstration; Campus Center
2:15 p.m. Drama activity with George Sanchez, Center for the Arts
3:30 p.m. Meet the President, Dr. Marlene Springer, Center for the Arts
4:00 p.m. Stargazing with Irving Robbins, Astrophysical Observatory
“Bring Your Child to Work” Day is a national event held annually on the fourth Thursday in April. The program started in 1993 as “Take Our Daughters to Work” Day by the Ms. Foundation for Women, with the goal of mentoring and inspiring the next generation of women. Over the years, formalized programs at companies, schools and government agencies have grown to include boys as well as girls in activities designed to introduce children to careers and the opportunities available to them in the workplace.
