CSI Public Safety Investigating Indecent Exposure on Campus

INCIDENT:   An indecent exposure incident occurring near the rear of the Sports and Recreation Center (Building 1R) occurred last evening, Wednesday,Oct. 26. A male in his late teens -to-early 20s exposed himself to females on campus. The reporting persons left the scene without further incident.

SUSPECT: male, late teens to early 20s, approximately 5’8- 5’11” tall with brown hair, wearing a black hoodie, black pants, and black sneakers. The suspect fled the scene on foot toward lot 5. Anyone with information that might aid in the investigation should call the CSI Office of Public Safety at 718.982.2111.


  • Travel in well-lit and populated areas and on designated pathways; avoid short cuts.
  • Travel in groups of two or more (the buddy system), especially at night.
  • Avoid texting while walking.
  • If you must travel alone late at night, call someone at your destination to let them know you are coming and when you expect to arrive. Also, have your route mapped out beforehand. Do not walk around as if you do not know where you are going.
  • Use the blue light Emergency Call boxes located throughout the campus to report emergencies or suspicious persons.

Public Safety Alert

The College of Staten Island Office of Public Safety has determined that circumstances exist that may pose a risk of theft from vehicles on campus. Please read this notification and take any necessary precautions to avoid being a potential victim. Feel free to call the Office of Public Safety with any questions or concerns.

Incident Summary:

THEFT FROM A VEHICLE:  On Monday, Oct. 17, 2016, at approximately 6:00pm, we had a theft from a vehicle that occurred in the gravel lot adjacent to the soccer field. In this incident, an unknown individual stole a cell phone from a parked vehicle that had the windows left open. There was no suspect description.

SUSPICIOUS PARTY:  On Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016, at approximately 6:30pm, a suspicious male was observed trying to open the doors of vehicles in the same gravel lot adjacent to the soccer field. This male was scared off by a visitor to the campus. He was last seen heading across Loop Road toward Willowbrook Park. Suspect description: male, 5’9”, 170lbs, wearing a light colored hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, and a dark baseball cap.

Safety Tips:

Thefts from vehicles can happen anytime, day or night. Park in well-lit, heavily traveled areas.

Close and lock all windows and doors when you exit.

Never leave valuables in plain sight. (Phones, GPS units, coins, charging cords, or other small items can be enough to invite the thief.)

Willowbrook Campus Closed Wed. Sept. 30

The College of Staten Island Willowbrook campus continues to experience a campus-wide power outage due to failure of the electrical substation.

As such, all day and evening classes and scheduled activities for Wednesday September 30, 2015 are canceled.​

The College’s satellite campus at 100 Merrill Ave., home to the Office of Continuing Education and Professional Development, continues to operate as usual.

The CSI Ferry Shuttle service will provide one-way transportation from Dolphin Cove to the ferry terminal until 5:00pm. There will be no passenger pick ups at the ferry terminal.

All essential and emergency personnel are expected to report as scheduled.

CSI continues to work closely with the University and Con Edison to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.
