Jillian Báez (Assistant Professor) comes to CSI from Williams College where she is a visiting Assistant Professor in Latino/a Studies. She is going to join us in January 2012. Dr. Báez received her Ph.D. in Communication from the University of Illinois –Urbana Champaign in 2009 and her B.A. from Hunter College. Dr. Baez specializes in various aspects of Latino media practices. Her dissertation, “Latinas Talk Back: The Latina Body, Citizenship, and Popular Culture,” analyzes mainstream and ethnic as well as old and new media representations of the Latina Body, while using the voices of Latina audiences and consumers to interrogate issues on individual and group identity constructions.
