College of Staten Island Professor Dr. Bilge Yesil was featured in a BBC Radio 5 interview to discuss the role of the media in the recent attempted coup in Turkey.

Dr. Yesil, Associate Professor in the Department of Media Culture, is the author of Video Surveillance: Power and Privacy in Everyday Life (2009) and more recently Media in New Turkey: The Origins of an Authoritarian Neoliberal State (2016), which discusses how Turkey’s media environment reflects the country’s dynamic political, economic, social, and cultural landscapes.
