The campus community is cordially invited to join Hillel at the College of Staten Island for an Open House in the CSI Sukkah, on the lawn outside of the Campus Center (Building 1C), on Monday, Oct. 5 from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Please stop in to say hello and enjoy light refreshments.
Sukkot is a Jewish holiday celebrating the harvest season. It is one of three pilgrimage holidays, when in ancient times, families would visit the Temple in Jerusalem. The Sukkah is a temporary dwelling, reminiscent of the 40 years that Israelites spent wandering in the desert, and symbolic of man as part of nature. The CSI Sukkah was a gift of community business leader Mr. Stanley Friedman, and is dedicated to the memory of slain journalist Daniel Pearl.
