The Marketing Association of CSI recently held their semester event. This year 45 students from all different majors came to meet Janine LeChillgrien, an associate account manager at Google, and a former CSI student.

Janine was very proud and honored to be asked to speak at her alma mater. She explained her journey to Google and how much of her success comes from the opportunities offered at CSI. When Janine was a freshman, she became a news director at WSIA radio, 88.9 FM, CSI’s radio station.

This rare college experience led her to an internship at WHTZ Newark (Z100) when she was just sophomore. She worked at the station as an intern until graduation and was offered a position upon graduation. She says “You have to get your fair share of coffee, but it pays off in the end.” She loved working at Z100. She told the students that the thing they have to do with any job is “you have to like what you do” and “you have to work hard because you can’t fake it.”

She also explained her path to Google telling the students the inside scoop regarding working at the company. She explained their sales strategies, the company’s goals, and “the perks.”

Throughout the session and even after it concluded Janine was very open to all of the students’ questions, sharing her knowledge and handing out her business cards. Every student who attended the session appreciated Janine’s warm, welcoming, honest answers, and personal experience.

Following the presentation, the Marketing Club had food and refreshments for the students who attended and many students talked with Janine on an informal basis.
