The Drama Program of the Department of Performing and Creative Arts, with funding from Student Government, presents “From Tel Aviv to Ramallah: A Beatbox Journey” by Yuri Lane and Sharif Ezzat on Thursday, May 13. The performance is at 8:00pm and a beatbox theater workshop will be held on the same day from 1:30pm to 3:30pm. Both events are free and will take place in the Center for the Arts Lab Theatre (Building 1P, Room 110).
A collaboration between a Jewish “human beatbox” and a Muslim video artist, “From Tel Aviv to Ramallah” is a genre-smashing, boundary-breaking “hip hop travelogue of peace” bringing to life 15 unforgettable characters. The New York Times calls it “a vivid, heartening piece,” and the San Francisco Bay Guardian says it is “a must-see for those interested in finding utopian spaces for peaceful co-existence.” The Chicago Tribune dubs it “a coolly extraordinary 55 minutes.”
