Families, friends, alumni, local businesses, and the campus community will join together on the 204-acre campus of the College of Staten Island (CSI) for its third annual Community Fall Festival on Saturday, October 2, 2010 from 11:00am to 4:00pm on the Great Lawn.

The event will feature more than 40 vendors with great family activities, live entertainment all day, and free clinics for kids in dance, gymnastics, sports, and karate. Kids’ activities will include inflatable rides, face painting, costume parades, storytelling, and magic shows. Fall crafts and gifts, as well as seasonal food and treats, will also be available.

During the past two years, thousands of people have enjoyed a fun-filled autumn day at CSI, while raising in excess of $35,000 for the Staten Island Breast Cancer Research Initiative (SIBCRI). For a peek into the fun last year’s event, visit the CSI Today Photo Gallery.

The suggested donation of $5 per person or $10 per family will again support CSI’s SIBCRI, a multidisciplinary approach aimed at making a positive impact on breast cancer incidence and mortality, as Staten Island has one of the highest breast cancer death rates in the state and the highest death rate in New York City.

Participating companies and organizations include A&J Party Inflatables, Sweets by Aunt Viv’s Kitchen, Pumpkin Patch by Sweetbrook Nursery, the New York Jets, Cathy’s Characters and Steve the Magician, Metro PCS, Glam Girlz Part, FDNY, Posh Baby, Live Music by Identity Crisis, Health Plus, Ten Toes, SI Family Music, Xiaolin Martial Arts, Avon, Jewelry by Linda John, and many more.

The Great Lawn is located between Buildings 1A and 2A. Guests are encouraged to use parking lots 1, 2, and 6. Parking is free and drop-offs are easy.

In the event of rain, the Fall Festival will be held in the Sports and Recreation Center (Building 1R) and guests are encouraged to use parking lot 6.

The event is sponsored by Con Edison. It is sponsored in part by the Friends of CSI, the CSI Alumni Association, the CSI Campus Activities Board, and Free Lighting Corporation of SI. For more information, contact CSI’s Office of Institutional Advancement at 718.982.2365 or advancement@csi.cuny.edu.
