The Dolphins took their first victory of the season in an extremely close match against Farmingdale State College, 5-4, on Wednesday evening. CSI evens out to a 1-1 overall record.
Starting doubles off with two losses didn’t bring CSI down. The team of Qing Li and Tara Colao defeated their opponents 8-5 in the last match of doubles.
Gabriella Villarruel won by a score of 6-3, 6-4 in first singles while Ilona Stoyko defeated her opponent 6-1, 6-3 in second singles to bring CSI ahead by one match. Nancy Almazo dropped third singles by scores of 2-6, 3-6 as Qing Li came back with the win in an invigorating match as she fell the first set 1-6 and came back strong with a 6-3 and 10-3 finish. Justine Kuna finished 5th singles with a win, 6-4, 3-6 and 10-4, as she was the last player to finish the entire game and settle the teams tie-breaker. tara Colao dropped the last singles spot in a well fought match 2-6, 6-3 and 9-11.
